What does Kolobrzeg look like today?

The city covers an area of 25.67 km². River Parsęta divides Kolobrzeg into a left bank and a right bank, while the railway line divides the northern and southern parts. In the northern part of the town, on the left bank of the Parsęta River, there is a marked Blue Flag, West beach. This part of the town is built up with single-family houses. On the right bank of the Parsęta, on the other hand, there is a park and a spa district. This is where the famous pier is located, lighthouse marine, promenadeor amphitheatre. The left bank of the Parsęta River in the southern part is a residential area with villas and new housing estates. In this area, there is Salt Island, with Kołobrzeg's famous brine spring. The south-eastern part of Kolobrzeg is also its centre, with the town hall and the basilica.

Kołobrzeg is not only about the white sands of beautiful beaches, but also about numerous green areas. Undoubtedly, the following deserve attention here Ekopark Eastern, located within Podczele housing estate. It covers 381 hectares of an area unique in landscape terms. Extremely valuable fauna and flora are protected there. It mainly includes the peat bog trough "Salt marsh". There are 6 parks in Kolobrzeg, with a total area of 62.9 hectares, the largest of which is Stefan Żeromski Park.

Most of Kołobrzeg's pre-war buildings lay in ruins. Only part of it was able to be rebuilt. After the Second World War, the famous St. Mary's Basilica, an example of a Gothic-style building, was rebuilt. Fortunately, the neo-Gothic town hall in Kołobrzeg was not destroyed as a result of the war effort.

Most of the spas and sanatoriums are located in the part of the city customarily known as the Spa Quarter. It is located between the harbour and the Eastern Ecopark. Some pre-war buildings have been preserved within it. The spa buildings were constructed in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Currently, there are more than a dozen sanatoriums and spa facilities in Kołobrzeg. They treat mainly diseases of the upper respiratory tract, rheumatology, endocrinology and skin diseases.
