DE This project has been talked about for a long time. Certainly since the launch of the Sky Walk observation tower, which has broken records for popularity. However, it has to be said that perturbations related, for example, to the pandemic have delayed its realisation. However, now second rail gondola in Świeradów-Zdrój is becoming a reality. At the November city council session, the project to revitalise the facility was presented to councillors and residents. What's more, a committee was also set up to swap municipal land with the owners of the plots of land under the ski runs.
What many have been waiting for for years is finally about to come to fruition. Świeradów-Zdrój will have two instead of one gondola lift. This is great news for downhill skiers, hikers and cyclists alike. The Polish capital of the Jizera Mountains already has no shortage of attractions, and the next one will attract even more visitors.
The second gondola railway in Świeradów-Zdrój - what do we know about it?
The new gondola lift will be called Ski Resort Świeradowiec. The cable car route will be 750 metres long. Two 4-person sandwich lifts will be open all year round. A 2.5-kilometre ski run will be created. In addition, a lighting system will be built along the entire length of the facility. The slope will be continuously snowed with 30 snow cannons. Lower station the second gondola railway in Świeradów-Zdrój will be located on Nadbrzeżna Street. The upper one, on the other hand, will be located at the Sky Walk viewing platform.
The project for the revitalisation of the 'Świeradowiec' is being handled by the Antemio design office from Kraków. The cost of the construction project for this investment is PLN 150,000. The source of funding, in turn, is the budget of the municipality of Świeradów-Zdrój. The value of the "Świeradowiec" gondola railway is currently estimated at between 50 and 60 million zlotys. According to the mayor of Świeradów-Zdrój, a spa with two multifunctional ski stations is already on a European level. The next attraction will attract winter sports fans as well as hikers and cyclists for at least a few days. According to current assumptions, implementation of the task will begin in 2024.
How does the Ski& Sun gondola railway in Świeradów-Zdrój function?
The Ski&Sun gondola railway has been attracting crowds of tourists to Świeradów-Zdrój for 14 years, and not only during the ski season. The modern carriages of the gondola railway are able to transport 2,400 people per hour. In just 8 minutes, they transport tourists to an altitude of 1,060 metres above sea level. The illuminated 2.5-kilometre-long piste is snowed up continuously and levelled twice a day. There is a year-round toboggan run at the sports and leisure centre near the lower lift station. It can be used both by children and adults. Ski and snowboard equipment can also be hired on site. There is no doubt that the gondola railway currently operating in Świeradów-Zdrój is a must-see for visitors to the Jizera Mountains.
The second gondola railway in Świeradów-Zdrój will also attract crowds?
The town already has no shortage of tourists. Most come there to improve their health - the local waters are a remedy for a number of ailments. Others want to climb mountain peaks or enjoy sports. Still others are interested in sightseeing - a real hit has been the observation tower Sky Walk. Near its platform will be the upper station of the new second gondola railway in Świeradów-Zdrój. Another gondola railway and additional lifts will undoubtedly attract many domestic and foreign tourists.
