Where is it really worth spending your holidays? We will briefly discuss both of these destinations, which will probably make your choice easier. They stretch for about 10 kilometres, of which less than 4 kilometres on the island of Usedom and more than 6 kilometres on the island of Wolin. Every year, due to the receding sea, the beaches widen. Another interesting fact is that in summer, the Baltic waters in the Świnoujście area are the warmest on the entire Polish coast. There are opportunities for water and sunbathing, water sports and boat trips. A great advantage of this location is the possibility to cross the Polish-German border in Świnoujście - it is within walking distance of the town beach.

 

What to do in Swinoujscie?

 

When in Swinoujscie, it is worth taking a stroll along the promenade. There are not as many tourists here as in other towns. On the uncrowded promenade, however, you will find plenty of restaurants and services. In addition, Swinoujscie is home to Poland's tallest lighthouse sea, measuring 68 metres. During the summer holidays (July, August), the lighthouse can be visited from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A normal ticket costs 9 zlotys, while a discounted ticket costs 5 zlotys.

 

You can also go for a walk in the Spa Park, located at the eastern end of the island of Usedom. Its history dates back to the 19th century. The park was designed by the Prussian horticulturist and landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenne, who was the designer of the royal gardens in Potsdam and Berlin The park covers 58 hectares. It contains 58 species of trees, 23 species of shrubs and four species of climbers. The park is clean and well-maintained and is ideal especially for hiking and cycling. During your stay in Swinoujscie, it is a good idea to go to the Museum Polish Fisheries, housed in the former town hall. Its exhibition is divided into three parts: nature, sea and history. A real treat, both for childrenas well as for adults, will be a visit to the underground city on Wolin Island.

 

Kolobrzeg or Świnoujstitch - Basic information about Kolobrzeg

 

Kołobrzeg, which lies at the mouth of the Parsęta River on the Baltic Sea, is Poland's most popular resort. More than 45,900 people live here on a daily basis. In the 2020 summer season, 3,137.2 thousand overnight stays were made in Kołobrzeg and the surrounding area. The Kolobrzeg district recorded one of the higher bed occupancy rates in Poland; Kolobrzeg accommodations were occupied at 43.8%. Kołobrzeg is a spa town, with some of the safest and cleanest beaches in Poland. Every year the local bathing beaches are awarded the Blue Flag. The most popular place for sunbathing is the central beach in Kołobrzeg - wide, long, with beautiful golden sand. Another frequently visited place for walks is the local Stefan Żeromski Park, in the Spa Quarter. It is mainly home to native deciduous tree species with a small admixture of exotic species. Within the park, there is the famous Monument Poland's Wedding to the Sea. Another attraction of Kołobrzeg are the museums, such as the Museum of Polish Arms, which presents the history of militaria from the Middle Ages to modern times. The museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and tickets cost PLN 25 for adults and PLN 20 for children. Kołobrzeg is also not short of attractions for the youngest. Children can be taken to the Hidden Land, the 6D Maszoperia Museum or the rope park.

 

What to choose: Kolobrzeg or Świnoujstitch?

 

In both Kolobrzeg and Swinoujscie, you will find clean, wide beaches and plenty of attractions to visit. In addition, compared to Świnoujście, Kołobrzeg has better communication.
