Lighthouse

Lighthouse The Morska Lighthouse in Kołobrzeg, located on the Polish Baltic coast on the Pomeranian Bay, is a key landmark in the West Pomeranian landscape. It is located between the Lighthouse in Niechorze (approximately 34 km to the west) and the Lighthouse in Gąskach (approximately 22 km to the east).

This 26-metre lighthouse, which reaches 16 nautical miles, is administered by the Maritime Office in Szczecin and is open to the public.

The history of the lighthouse in Kołobrzeg dates back to 1666, when the turret of the harbour management building was used as a landmark for maritime navigation. The lighthouse was blown up in 1945 by German sappers as it was an important landmark for Polish artillerymen during the Battle of Kołobrzeg. After the end of hostilities, the construction of a new lighthouse began and was completed by November 1945 at the latest. Since then, it has been an integral part of Kolobrzeg's landscape, serving navigators and tourists alike.

The lighthouse in Kolobrzeg is open to the public all year round. In July and August, it is open daily from 10:00 until sunset. In April, May, June and September and October, the facility closes at 5pm.

The price of an ordinary ticket to the Kolobrzeg Lighthouse is 12 zł, and a discounted ticket costs 8 zł.

Kolobrzeg Town Hall

Located in the heart of the city, the Kolobrzeg Town Hall is a historic building with impressive architecture. It was built between 1829 and 1832 in neo-Gothic style, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The building was built on the foundations of the medieval town hall, which was destroyed in 1807 during the siege of the city.

From the outside, the Town Hall resembles a medieval fortified castle, and its appearance is further enhanced by decorative turrets and battlements. The structure is C-shaped, with an open courtyard in the middle. It is dominated by the main tower with a clock, on which the coats of arms of Kołobrzeg and Poland are displayed.

Schliffen House

The Schliffen tenement house in Kolobrzeg is a Gothic gem of residential architecture and is the oldest surviving house in this seaside town. Built in the 15th century, it was probably the home of a wealthy bourgeois family, the Schliffens (or Schlieffens). The building underwent alterations in the 16th and 19th centuries, which gave it its present shape.

Between the wars, the townhouse served as a museum, commemorating Joachim Nettelbeck. Although the building was destroyed in 1945, it was carefully reconstructed after the Second World War, regaining its historic splendour.

Since 1963, the Schliffen House has been an integral part of the Polish Arms Museum complex. Its interior houses exhibition halls where visitors can admire various exhibits presenting the rich history of Polish arms.
