Tourist hostels in the Jizera Mountains near Świeradów-Zdrój

Attraction

Mountains Izera, known for its picturesque nature and rich history, offer wonderful opportunities for discovering natural beauty and relaxation. Three unique hostels are located in this setting: Hostel on Stog Izerski, Mountaineers' Chalet and Orle Tourist Station. Each of them has its own unique history and character, attracting visitors with its originality and local attractions.

Shelter on Stog Izerski

Location: Located at an altitude of 1060 m above sea level in the north-western part of the Jizera Mountains, right on the Polish-Czech border, in the settlement of Stóg Izerski, in the municipality of Mirsk.

History: Built in 1922 on the initiative of the German tourist organisation RGV "Riesengebirgsverein", the doctor Josef Siebelt and the Schaffgotsch family. From 1945, the chalet was named after Jan Kasprowicz for some time.

Architecture: Silesian-Lusatian style building with rooms, viewing terrace, utility facilities, common room and kitchen.

Attractions: Sweeping panoramas of the region, proximity to hiking, skiing and cycling trails and historic observation tower.

Mountain hut

Location: It is located on the Jizera Hall, a remnant of the village of Gross-Iser.

History: Before the Second World War, Gross-Iser was a thriving settlement. After the war, the school in Gross-Iser was converted into a hostel by students from Zielona Góra in the 1980s.

Current Use: Now managed by the Polanski family, it offers accommodation and a place of relaxation for tourists and nature lovers.

Tourist routes: A variety of hiking and cycling trails start at the Górzystów Hut, including the red trail to Jakuszyce and the blue trail from Świeradów-Zdrój to Szklarska Poręba.

Tourist station Orle

Location: In the Jizera Mountains, within the boundaries of Szklarska Poręba, at the foot of the Granicznik mountain.

History: The site where the Preussler family founded the Carlsthal glassworks in 1754. In the 20th century, the building was used as a forester's lodge and later as a Grenzschutz post and WOP Watchtower Orle.

Presence: Consisting of a former forester's lodge and two pre-war watchtowers, it offers accommodation and a buffet for tourists.

Attractions: Proximity to the cross-country skiing trails of the Piast Cross-Country Route and an "astro-path" - a model of the solar system - located within the Jizera Dark Sky Park.

Tourist routes: It is possible to reach the shelter via various hiking trails, including the yellow trail from Jakuszycka Glade and the green trail through Granicznik.
