Rediscover the Alpine Cottage: A Legend of the Jizera Mountains

Attraction

In the heart of the Jizerské Mountains, hidden among the beech and spruce forests, you will find a place which, with its aura, is reminiscent of the long-forgotten times of travel romance. It is shelter The Mountain Lodge - a pearl of the Sudety Mountains, preserving in its simplicity and authenticity the spirit of the old mountain lodges. A trip to the Hut is not only a return to the roots of mountain tourism, but also an opportunity to taste the legendary sponge pancakes that have won the hearts of visitors from far and near.

History of the Mountain Lodge

The former Gross-Iser, today's Mountain Lodge, was an idyllic village before the Second World War, where life was bustling at full throttle in 43 houses, 3 inns, a café and two chalets. It was a community for whom the school bells set the rhythm of the day. In 1938, the Izerské Grosz was enriched by a new school building, which today is the heart of the mountain hut.

After the end of the war and the tragic events that marked the history of the village, the school building - as the only one of the few - managed to avoid destruction. Adapted in the 1980s by students from Zielona Mountains, became a hostel, preserving a trace of the region's history.

Mountain hut today

When accessing the Hut, travellers can feel like characters from stories of old - no electricity, heating by cookers and refreshing baths in the mountain stream. Anyone who crosses the threshold of the Hut enters a friendly community of travellers and adventurers who appreciate simplicity and direct contact with nature.

In the chalet, where it is the fireplace that disperses the mountain chill and the glow of the campfire that gathers around it a mix of interesting personalities, a tourist kitchen is also at the guests' disposal. Gourmets and amateurs of culinary DIY can spread their wings here. However, the hut's real claim to fame are the sponge pancakes, the taste of which, according to many, cannot be compared with any other.

Biscuit pancakes - a treat from a mountain hut

The unmistakable sponge pancakes have become an icon of the Mountaineers' Hut, a bond between the past and the present, a taste that echoes the good old days. This sweet tradition attracts gourmets from all over the country, and the secret to their uniqueness lies in the simplicity and quality of the local ingredients. You won't find a recipe for these pancakes - they are part of a magical experience that can only be experienced within the walls of the Hut. As regular guests say: "The pancakes at the Hut simply have to be tasted for yourself".
