Zwalisko - The Mysterious Peak of the Jizera Mountains
AttractionDiscover the Magic Loop of the Jizera Mountains
Zwalisko, often referred to as Evening Castle, is a unique peak in the Jizera Mountains and is an important point on the popular hiking loop that includes Zwalisko, Izera The humps, High Kopa, Front Kopa and Sine Rocks. Rising to an altitude of 1,047 metres above sea level, Zwalisko offers a unique experience for tourists seeking both adventure and history.
Peak characteristics
The summit of Zwalisko is characterised by a narrow perch, overgrown with young spruce forest, and is dotted with hornfels rocks. These picturesque rocks, known as Evening Castle, were once a popular viewpoint, although now increasingly obscured by trees. The northern slopes descend steeply towards the Jizera Crossroads and the southern slopes towards the valley of the Kamienna River.
Rich History
The collapse was already known to Walloon ore prospectors in the Middle Ages. Rich in minerals and ores, it was repeatedly mentioned in the Walloon Books. In the 19th century, it became a popular destination due to its beauty. Before World War II, the Hornfels group of rocks was protected as a memorial nature.
Tourism on a hillside
The slope is accessible by hiking trails of varying difficulty. The red M. Orłowicz trail from Świeradów-Zdrój, which is the more difficult option, also leads to the High Dome. The green trail from the Jizera Crossroads to Jakuszyce and the blue trail from Szklarska Poręba through the Cicha Równia Crossroads to Świeradów-Zdrój are easier options for tourists.
Zwalisko, with its rich history, picturesque rocks and mysterious legends, is a unique place on the map of the Jizera Mountains. Whether you visit this hill as part of the "Magic Loop of the Jizerské Mountains" or take the more difficult route to the High Kopa, hiking in the Jizerské Mountains offers not only beautiful scenery, but also a trip through the history and culture of the region.
