It is the westernmost chalet on the Polish side of the Sudety Mountains, whose terraces overlook the picturesque spas of Świeradów-Zdrój and Czerniawa-Zdrój. From a hiking point of view, the hostel is an ideal starting point for the trails of the Main Sudeten Route as well as a junction with the local trails crossing it, providing tourists with a wide choice of paths to explore this area rich in nature.

From the foundation stone to the present day: One hundred years of the hostel

Fascinating story Shelters on Stog Izerski began in 1922, when a group of mountain hiking enthusiasts from the Riesengebirgsverein, including the spa doctor Dr. Josef Siebelt and the Schaffgotsch family, laid the foundation stone for a structure in the characteristic Silesian-Lusatian style. The opening of the building, originally known as Heufuderbaude, took place in autumn 1924. Since then, the chalet has undergone numerous modernisations and renovations, but always with an eye to preserving its unique character and historical details. A special part of its history is the period of the Second World War, when tourist activities continued despite the surrounding chaos, and the post-war years, when the building was used as a post of the Border Guard troops.

The unique appearance of the Hostel on Stog Izerski is a manifestation of the regional architectural style, which reflects the links to the natural landscape and cultural identity of the Jizera Mountains. The building is a two-storey brick and timber construction topped with a characteristic gabled roof. It was located near the current telecommunications mast, which used to be an additional argument for visiting this unique place in the Jizera Mountains.
